Overheard on the playground

10 year old: "Hey, lets watch 'The Barber of Seville'! "
8 year old: "YEAH! That's soooo funny!"

Must be children of professors of some branch of the liberal arts. Is this the moral equivalent of my (MDPhD) friend's 5 year old talking coherently about gravity? Or is there some pop culture reference I'm missing here?

Maybe it is a reference to the Bugs Bunny cartoon?

Hmm.... That would make a lot of sense. Damn! I liked the image of humanities professors sitting their kids down for a nice evening of opera on PBS. ;)

Epsilon is my son.

University E is where my partner has a tenure track position.

His Town is the town where my partner and Epsilon live, next to University E.

University F is where I had my last post doctoral position.

My City is the city where I used to commute, containing University F.

University G is my current post doc.

My Town is the new target of my commute, containing University G.

Eggmus is a term I stole from Adequate Parent, who no longer blogs. It refers to the cute things that make kids kids, that I both adore, and maybe want to kill Epsilon for.
